TAM Museum is partnering with the Kupferstichkabinett of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin to expand the reach of their exhibitions.
Bosphorus Beats – Views of Istanbul from 1500 to 1800 brings together drawings, prints, and books depicting Istanbul and "the Turks," featuring works by Pollaiuolo, Dürer, Coecke van Aelst, Rembrandt, Liotard, and Chodowiecki. These works trace how Europe perceived the Ottoman Empire across centuries — sometimes with curiosity and admiration, sometimes through prejudice and propaganda.

Workshops and Creative Writing
In Beat the Name – Renaming Artworks, participants question the titles of selected works and propose new names through playful, multilingual dialogue. The workshop "I See Something You Don't See! – Creative Writing", developed with author Dilek Güngör, invites participants to reflect on the artworks — and on their own experiences with prejudice and identity.
TAM Forum — Guided Tour and Library Visit
Through our monthly TAM FORUM, we hosted a guided tour in February with exhibition curator Dr. Mailena Mallach and had an in-depth discussion of Mellings's prints — including a rare look at additional works held in the library that are not on display in the exhibition.

Kollaboration Bosporus Beats x TAM Museum im Kupferstichkabinett

Im Rahmen des Begleitprogramms zur Ausstellung „Bosporus Beats – Blicke auf Istanbul von 1500 bis 1800“ im Kupferstichkabinett arbeitet das TAM Museum mit dem Kupferstichkabinett der Staatlichen Museen von Berlin zusammen.
Gemeinsam haben wir ein Programm entwickelt, das zur Ausstellung passt. Es verbindet historische Sichtweisen auf Istanbul mit heutigen Fragen zu Identität, Blickregimen und Erinnerungskultur.
Gemeinsam haben wir ein Programm entwickelt, das zur Ausstellung passt. Es verbindet historische Sichtweisen auf Istanbul mit heutigen Fragen zu Identität, Blickregimen und Erinnerungskultur.
Die Zusammenarbeit umfasst verschiedene Formate, bei denen Ausstellung, Bildung, Austausch und Mitmachen ineinandergreifen. Im Workshop „Beat the Name – Kunstwerke umbenennen“ werden die Teilnehmenden zuerst von der Kuratorin durch die Ausstellung geführt. Danach hinterfragen sie gemeinsam die Titel ausgewählter Kunstwerke und finden neue Namen dafür. Dabei geht es um Sprache, Wahrnehmung und Perspektiven – spielerisch, im Austausch und in mehreren Sprachen.
Insbesondere für Schulklassen und Gruppen gedacht ist der kreative Schreib-Workshop „Ich sehe was, was du nicht siehst!“, den wir zusammen mit der Autorin Dilek Güngör anbieten. Ausgehend von den ausgestellten Kunstwerken werden hier Fragen zu Identität, Stereotypen, Blicken und eigenen Prägungen literarisch bearbeitet.
